Important Passport Notice – MasterCard 2 Series
MasterCard has started issuing cards with account numbers beginning with a “2”. Beginning June 30, 2017, MasterCard will begin field tests to validate two series BIN acceptance and enforce compliance. Failure to accept a two series BIN card may result in substantial noncompliance assessments. The MasterCard fee schedule for noncompliance is:
- Up to $2,500 per occurrence for first 30 days
- Up to $5,000 per occurrence for days 31-60
- Up to $10,000 per occurrence for days 61-90
- Up to $20,000 per occurrence for subsequent violations
Please contact MasterCard regarding specific deadline or noncompliance fees.
Retailers running older Passport POS Software may require a software upgrade to support the new MasterCard 2 series cards. Reference table below for guidance:

Cards managed by a 3rd-party (i.e., Parameter Download (PDL) table) may not require a Passport software upgrade. Please have the Retailer contact the MOC Help Desk to confirm MC2 Series support.
