Critical Notice – Passport HPS-C – Generic Network Application
Enclosed is important information regarding an upcoming Passport software upgrade requirement and POS equipment sales opportunity.
Please be advised that the last “TLS Security Certificate” for Passport sites running HPS-C version 11.02 or 11.04 will expire in Oct. 2021 and certain sites must upgrade to a newer software release (v12.02 or higher) to avoid a “network offline” condition.

Scope: | Approximately 600 sites |
Failure Condition: | “Network Offline” – site will not be able to process cards via the HPS network |

2020 Retailer Notice: Cover letter included with their software upgrade CD in 2020.
Prior to October 2021, Gilbarco and HPS will take steps to proactively notify vulnerable Retailers but realize that we may not identify or reach all sites. We ask that our Distributors and technicians most familiar with these HPS-C locations to also take action to communicate this information and discuss Passport POS software and hardware upgrade options.
Next Steps:
- Gilbarco to release a Technician service bulletin similar to this Distributor Update article.
- Gilbarco to work with HPS regarding HPS’ messaging to Retailers.
- Gilbarco to make contact and notify ~600 sites and validate site needs where possible.
- Gilbarco TLG team to provide qualified site lists to Distributors in May or early June.
- Gilbarco Service to mail an upgrade notice and Passport P-2709 upgrade brochure to Retailers.
- Distributors to notify HPS-C Retailers and discuss upgrade options.
- ASC technicians to notify HPS-C Retailers and discuss upgrade options.
WARNING: HPS-C v11.02 or v11.04 sites communicating via “Passport Direct TLS” that do not upgrade prior to October 2021 WILL experience a “Network Offline” condition in Oct. 2021 and WILL NOT be able to process card transactions via the HPS network.
Our goal is to prevent sites from going offline. However, if this situation occurs, the Gilbarco Help Desk may not be able to remotely resolve this “network offline” condition and the site will remain offline until such time that the Retailer completes a software upgrade.
