Message for Valero customers: Passport version 21.03
Passport version 21.03 is scheduled to release to Valero-branded sites on May 3, 2022. This release includes support for discounts on Valero fleet cards and support for Gilbarco’s NF series dispensers. However, there are two scenarios where upgrading to 21.03 may disrupt business at certain Valero stores.
-
- Sites with a mixed dispenser network:
Certification for contactless EMV on Gilbarco Flexpay card readers is complete, but certification for contactless EMV on Wayne iXPay card readers is still in process. Per payment network guidelines, if EMV contactless is available at a site for any dispensers then MSD contactless must be disabled. For Valero sites with a mixed dispenser network (e.g. Gilbarco and Wayne dispensers at the same site), MSD contactless payment and EMV contactless payment will be unavailable on Wayne card readers for sites upgrading to version 21.03. Once EMV certification is complete, Gilbarco will release a maintenance pack that will enable contactless EMV at Wayne card readers.Note, the loss of Wayne MSD contactless only applies for sites with a mixed dispenser network. Sites with only Gilbarco dispensers will be capable of using EMV contactless when upgrading to 21.03. Sites with only Wayne dispensers will be capable of using MSD contactless when upgrading to 21.03.
- Sites with Express Ordering:
Express Ordering is re-architected in Passport version 21.03 to enable greater security and functionality, such as the ability for consumers to pay at the Express Ordering kiosk. The feature is still in testing and will be released after the Valero launch date of May 3. In the interim, it is Gilbarco’s recommendation that sites with Express Ordering do not upgrade to version 21.03. If a site with Express Ordering were to upgrade to version 21.03, then Express Ordering will cease to function. Once testing is complete, the new Express Ordering will be released as a maintenance pack and sites can upgrade to 21.03.
